The 2005 Wrekin Writer Retreat headed a little further north from our 2004 retreat, into mid-Wales for our 2005 retreat at Builth Wells.
The Builth Wells Retreat venue!
Plenty of room to abandon cars.
The neighbours were friendly.
There was a supply of fresh eggs here.
The kitchen … before we made it messy.
We’d done the shopping!
The hall and stairway.
The entrance to the kitchen
A snooker table!
Yes, that’s an en-suite bathroom … down the stairs
The goats were inquisitive.
We weren’t the only ones on retreat.
The things you had to do to get some milk at this place.
And a few other distractions.
That doesn’t look like writing.
Hmmm, is that a gun in your pocket …
Jenny and Sue by the front door.
The stairs … had a ghostly feel to them.
Crouching Writer, Hidden …
Mike and Di discussing the view.
Writers gazing at the view.
Whoever pushed this up here deserves a medal.
The plaque on the gun.
Mike is trying to push it back.
Looking down upon the River Wye.
Look what the Welsh keep on their hill tops.
The sun working hard to brighten our day.
Behold! The Brecon Beacons in the distance.
We retreat in November, so the weather can be changeable.
The property was nestled in the surrounding land. We like isolated.
A warming sight.
Aha! We’re on retreat – there’s a log fire.
This was the view from the bathroom window
The neighbours watching our cars.
The neighbours are exploring the abandoned cars.
See? Writers not writing, but looking at photos!
This looks productive! (Actually, it was a posed shot for a magazine article!)
Ahem. Writers writing.
Sorry – no idea what the score is.
Is it me, or are there too many balls on that table?
