Author Alexander McCall Smith is again the chairman of judges for the 2015 competition and the entry fee is still £10 although the First Prize is now £800. Anyone over 16 years may enter. Stories should be no more than 1,500 words and can be on any topic. The deadline is 31 March 2015. All funds raised through the competition will be channelled through the Scottish Arts Club Charitable Trust to benefit youth participation in the arts.

Finalists’ stories will be published on the club website in August 2015. All finalists will then be invited to attend the Short Story Awards Dinner to be held at the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh on Saturday 12 September 2015, when the first prize of £800 will be announced and presented to the winner.
The Scottish Arts Club, located in classic Rutland Square, Edinburgh, has been in operation for more than 140 years. The Club has an active Writer’s Group which meets monthly and also organizes workshops (most recently with award winning author Zoe Strachan) and lunchtime readings. The Club also provides members with a lively programme of talks, films, recitals and exhibitions.
